Health Updates

I was able to get in early to the Rheumatologist (my appt was scheduled for next week, but they had a cancellation). I saw her Tuesday.

We went over my history and she didn't see anything that jumped out at her for being autoimmune, but she ordered a bunch of blood work and a couple x-rays. I should get the results in about a month (they send the blood down to the Mayo Clinic).

She was concerned about my chest pain/pressure, so after I saw her, she sent me to the walk in clinic. There they ran tests and stuff to rule out my heart, and the doctor there said it was either autoimmune, or a common inflammation that in my case just acts not so common. He scheduled a CT scan for me to check of that would show anything, and then gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatories and sent me on my way.

This morning I had the CT scan, and then this afternoon I had my appt with my GYN. She thinks that taking out my ovary and tube right now is waaaaay too drastic, and I agree with her. She wants to wait and see over the next three weeks or so to see if hopefully the pain will just go away, considering I've been pain free up to this point for so long. If it doesn't get any better, she thinks a diagnostic lap might be a wise move, and then see what she can see, then go from there.

I get home, and then I get a call that says my CT scan was normal.

So I'm pretty much just waiting to see what happens now.

  1. A thought on the CT Scan.... had you been taking the anti-inflammatories consistently? They wouldn't hide any damage that's been done already, but they'd hide any inflammation you commonly have and make it so that wouldn't show up on the scan...... I just thought of that while reading this.

  2. SO glad you got the all-clear on the CT scan! Those tests always scare the crap out of me. A million "what ifs" swirling around the brain.

But, on the other hand, I'm so sorry you don't have any concrete answers yet. Uberly frustrating. It sounds like your gyn is on your side though, and that the rheumy is covering a lot of bases with the blood tests.

In the meantime, I hope the anti-inflammatories do their best to keep your pain at bay. *hugs*

  3. SO glad that the CT scan was negative! It's a great thing.. although now you aren't sure whats going on.. so thats not good.

I hope that the anti-inflammatories help ease at least a little of the pain *hugS*
